Our mission

Helping families in Honduras build safe homes, get an education, see a doctor, and earn a living.

Families are building their own way out of poverty

FAPOH helps them do it. We're a small team based in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, and for more than 15 years we've worked alongside communities in Honduras on the four things every family needs: a safe home, schooling, healthcare, and steady work.

Every project starts with what a community already has: land, skills, and people ready to build. We fill in what's missing, and the community leads the work. That's why the change lasts after we leave.

Six focus areas

Homes come first, but a home alone doesn't end poverty. This is everything we work on together.

  • Safe Housing

Families and neighbors build their own secure, affordable homes, including the geodesic dome homes FAPOH is known for. We bring materials, training, and crews; the community brings the rest.

  • Education Programs

School supplies, tutoring, and adult literacy classes. A safe home helps here too: a child with a roof and a desk can actually do homework.

  • Healthcare Access

Mobile clinics, vision and dental care, and nutrition education, run together with local healthcare providers.

  • Job Training & Microfinance

Vocational training, job placement help, and small loans that let families start earning on their own terms.

  • Community Development

Water systems, sanitation, roads, and public spaces, planned and maintained by the communities that use them.

  • Emergency Relief

When hurricanes or crises hit, we respond with food, water, medical supplies, and temporary shelter.

How every project runs

The same three steps, led by the community from day one.

  1. Listen & Learn

Before anything gets built, we sit down with community members and listen: what's needed most, what's been tried, and what would actually help.

  2. Partner & Plan

We plan the project together, shaped by the people who will live with the result.

  3. Build & Sustain

The community builds it and then runs it, so the impact keeps going long after our part is done.

Fund a family's next step

$25 can cover a child's school supplies for a semester, $50 a week of nutrition support for a family, $500 vocational training for a new career. 95% of every donation goes directly to programs in Honduras.
